Friends of Swayze, Inc. is dedicated to stabilizing, repairing, and restoring the historic Swayze family burying ground. Of particular importance is the repairing of the grave markers and monuments in the Swayze Cemetery.

 

The stone of Israel Swayze, buried in 1774 has been stabilized. He is the first Swayze family member interred  which established the burying ground. Further restoration of his  brownstone grave marker and the proper restoration of the engraving is being researched. We have contacted experts to advise on the best approach.

All cemetery gravestones will be documented and stabilized beginning in Spring 2019. Please make a donation to assist this effort as it is ongoing to complete the 200+ gravesites.
